E-111: You Be You … You Do You … and Be Battle Ready!

In this episode, the GRIZ shares who he really is, where he’s come from, what he’s about, what he believes, what he loves, what he likes, etc. You’re going to get to know the GRIZ a whole lot better. He then goes on to motivate YOU TO BE and DO YOU! This jacked-up world doesn’t need YOU to try and be somebody else. Also, at the close of this episode, he encourages YOU to be “battle ready!” Charles Haddon Spurgeon is on fire! …

Ready for Battle!

By Charles Haddon Spurgeon

“… Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back.”
Revelation 12:7

War always will rage between the two great sovereignties until one or the other is crushed. Peace between good and evil is an impossibility; to pretend otherwise would signal a victory for the powers of darkness. Michael will always fight; his holy soul is vexed with sin and will not endure it. Jesus will always be the dragon’s foe, and not in any quiet sense but actively, vigorously, with full determination to exterminate evil. All His servants, whether angels in heaven or messengers on earth, will and must fight; they are born to be warriors. At the cross they enter into a covenant never to make a truce with evil; they are a warlike company, firm in defense and fierce in attack. The duty of every soldier in the army of the Lord is every day, with all his heart and soul and strength, to fight against the dragon.

The dragon and his angels will fight back; they are incessant in their onslaughts, prepared to use every kind of weaponry. We are foolish to expect to serve God without opposition: The more zealous we are, the more we can expect to be attacked by the ruffians of Hell. The church may become lazy, but her great antagonist does not; his restless spirit never allows the war to pause; he hates the woman’s seed and would happily devour the church if he could. The servants of Satan share a great deal of the old dragon’s energy and are usually an active crew. War rages all around, and to dream of peace is dangerous and futile.

Glory be to God, we know the end of the war. The great dragon will be cast out and forever destroyed, while Jesus and those who are with Him will receive the crown. So let us sharpen our swords tonight, and ask the Holy Spirit to make us ready for the conflict. Battle was never so important, and the crown never so glorious. Everyone to their positions as warriors of the cross, and may the Lord tread Satan under your feet shortly!

E-143: Battling Sexual Lust THE GRIZ PODCAST

The number one sin struggle for most Christian men is sexual. You’ve heard the old saying … “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” Well, that is especially true when it comes to sexual temptation/sin. Christian men need a personal purity battle plan (especially those of us with a background of sexual/porn addiction). I recently updated my personal purity battle plan to better protect myself and I want to share it with you guys to give you a launching pad to develop your own. Here it is … 1. Every morning read or listen to God’s truth and spend some time in prayer. 2. Every morning commit your heart, mind, and body to the Lord. 3. Every morning check-in with your accountability partner via text message. 4. Everyday track your sobriety. 5. Once per week review your personal purity battle plan and your personal purity motivation. 6. Throughout your day, stay focused and full on the things of God: review Scripture – listen to good music, podcasts, or audio books – talk/text with godly friends/mentors. 7. Every week attend your weekly support/accountability group. 8. Every week attend church. 9. Keep all internet devices monitored by Covenant Eyes and restricted with a password that you don’t know. 10. Avoid being home alone and bored (isolation). When feeling tempted, don’t be home alone at all. Go public. 11. Stay consistent and disciplined with physical exercise and healthy eating habits. Discipline and self-control in every area of your life matters to your success. 12. Avoid music that contains sexual content. 13. Avoid movies/TV that contains sexual content and/or crude perverted humor. 14. Avoid social media apps that tempt. Get rid of them if they’re triggers. 15. Avoid fitness/men’s magazines. 16. Don’t stay up late and watch TV or browse the web when alone. 17. When traveling and lodging alone, let your accountability partners know, and have them check on you. 18. Don’t watch TV when traveling and lodging alone. Cover the TV with a blanket, and watch whatever you want on your computer or iPhone because those are monitored by Covenant Eyes. 19. Bounce your eyes away from tempting images and females or completely flee the area where temptation is messing with you. If it keeps messing with you, immediately reach out to one of your accountability partners. 20. Look women in the eyes, and if they’re dressed provocatively … bounce your eyes away or completely flee the area. 21. Don’t talk or joke about crude and perverted things. 22. Don’t meet alone with a female unless it’s in a public place. Always have a third-party present. 23. Don’t talk, text, email, Facetime, Skype, etc. with any females who you don’t know … and if you do know them, then always keep your wife in the loop. 24. Don’t flirt with females, and if they flirt with you … disengage and completely flee the area. 25. Other than your wife and daughters, don’t touch females beyond a side hug. 26. When feeling down, anxious, angry, stressed, lonely, sick, or under spiritual attack … reach out to your accountability partners and friends. Those things are major internal triggers. Don’t battle any of that on your own. Don’t isolate. Get connected, counseled, encouraged, and prayed for. 27. Continually evaluate your life and technology, and if there’s anything that might trigger you to sin … immediately eliminate it! 28. Strive to keep yourself well rested with adequate sleep, relaxation, and recovery time because when you’re sick and rundown from work or ministry, you’re much more susceptible to temptation. 29. Avoid “edging” behaviors. 30. Stay focused on the mission that God has given you. 31. If you slip up, immediately come clean about it with your accountability partners. 32. Never give-up the fight for personal purity/integrity. – – – – – Protect yourself and your family with Covenant Eyes Internet Accountability and Filtering.
